When illness is not your life
It’s a way to get out of expectation
But when illness is everyday
It’s an inescapable private truth
More likely something you try to hide
Until it can’t be hidden anymore
It comes out when we can’t escape it
The veracity of our truth is doubted
Because the majority use it as a lie
But it’s ill health we wish to lie about
If only our illness was imagined.
