I don’t mean this to be a threat
Or a noose hanging over your future head
But either you get old or you die young
And with age comes a failing body
And your future self will care
About how the world views disability
Sure, this is a future you problem
Maybe you’ll be the very rare exception
A rare able bodied octogenarian
Or maybe you will kick the bucket early
Not that the odds matter if your dead
But I hope for you a long life
A chance to have wisdom in old age
Disability isn’t worse than death
It’s just less comfortable than youth.
