We can’t predict a safe space
Just like I can’t read minds
I dont know another’s lived experience
People can harm unintentionally
People can harm with the best of intent
Even kindness can cause harm
Because one person’s intent
Doesn’t define another’s experience
And intent doesn’t excuse harm
Each of our needs are unique
And assumption of sameness wrong
Interactions complicated by minutia
The best we can do is respect
Know our human limitations
Make the best of flawed humanity
Be an Ally that knows better
Don’t promise what you don’t know.
